Practical Information

How to contact me ?

You can call me directly on my mobile 07973 26 60 87 .Most of the time, during the day I will be busy with a patient.  You will have to leave a message on my answering system or send a text message and I will call you back as soon as I can. The best time to talk to me directly is in the evening between 8pm and 9pm.
At the Week-End my answering machine will give you the phone number of a medical service.
In case of emergency Westminster and Chelsea and Saint Mary's Hospitals have both a paediatric emergency department.

Consulting

I see Infants, todlers, children and teenagers..
I might help you to organise any private hospitalisation..
If needed, investigations can be organised within the Cromwell Hospital or with others private laboratories

.

How long does your appointment last ?

I have appointments booked every half hours. During busy periods, and in order to accomodate emergencies, I shall sometimes be obliged to shorten appointments' durations.

Do you need to register your child in advance?

No  Your child’s details will be taken when you telephone to make your first appointment. It is also recommended that your child is registered with your local GP surgery.
You will have to bring your child’s medical book and other medical reports when you come to see me.

Registering at the Hospital

You will be asked to complete a form which allows the hospital to keep your child's record as accurate as possible. this process may take up to 15 minutes and it would be helpful if you could arrive slightly earlier than your appointment time in order to help with this matter. Please note all children will need to be registred for each visit to the hospital

Common Courtesy ?

If you have booked an appointment and are for any reason unable to attend,  please telephone the Cromwell  appointment to cancel, giving at least 12 Hours notice. There are always children waiting for cancelled appointments and it may one day be your child .
Please note there is a late cancellation fee of £ 50.
In addition to this , as the clinics are always very busy and run to a very tight schedule please ensure you are prompt for your appointment. If your arrive late and not able to discuss in full your concern you may be advised to arrange a further appointment.

Parking

As my clinics are based in central London, parking is obviously sometimes not easy. There are meters on adjacent streets. It is strongly recommended that you allow yourself extra time for parking and traffic delays.

Medical Information

When to do Immunisations ?

The protocol for immunisation will be discussed during your first visit.
It would be helpful to bring your child vaccination report when you come for a check-up
Apart from yellow fever I can also provide travel vaccinations and give information regarding the ones needed for your children in the countries you are to travel to

Where to get the immunisation jab?

Some of them can be done at the NHS Baby Clinic but I would be happy to provide them if you bring your child for a paediatric check-up.
It is advisable that these are given when the child is in good health. It is recommended that you purchase some paracetamol prior to the appointment as your child may develop a temperature post injection and this will help make him /her more comfortable.

Routine Check-ups?

I usually suggest to have a monthly check up during the first year

Medical Insurances ?

Claims to medical insurers will depend on your personnel medical cover and it is advisable that you check with your insurers before attending your appointment. If your are covered, it would be helpful if you could bring with you your completed claim form and when appropriate, a GP referral letter

What if my child requires further investigations ?

If I decide your child needs to have lab tests requiring for instance a blood or urine sample this can usually be arranged at the time Arranged at the time of your appointment and you will be invoiced for these by the Cromwell hospital or the independent laboratory . As ultrasounds require a consultant Paediatric Radiologist to perform them it will not always be possible to have these done immediately or even the same day , however the earliest appointment will be made for you. Once again payment will be required by the hospital at the time of your child’s test.

Rash and Contagion ?

If you suspect your child may have contagious disease, such as chickenpox or Measles, please inform the secretary when telephoning to make an appointment.
